Our service connects users who are seeking marine insurance with licensed US marine insurance advisors and providers. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share, and protect your personal information when you use our website and services.

For all privacy-related enquiries, please contact us at: hello@cover4you.co.nz

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the personal information we collect for the following purposes:

4. Sharing Your Information with Third Parties

Insurance providers and advisors: The core purpose of our service is to connect you with licensed marine insurance professionals. When you submit a quote request, your personal and vessel information will be shared with one or more licensed insurance advisors or providers on our panel — including providers such as Progressive, BoatUS / GEICO Marine, Markel, Chubb, and Foremost — so they can prepare and deliver a quote. By submitting a quote request, you expressly consent to this sharing.

Service providers: We may share data with third-party vendors who assist us in operating the website and our services, including analytics platforms (such as Google Analytics), email delivery providers, form processing services, and cybersecurity tools. These providers are bound by data processing agreements and may only use your data as directed by us.

What we do not do: We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their own independent marketing purposes. We do not share your information with data brokers. We will not disclose your information other than as described in this policy, except where required by law, court order, or legal process.

5. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected, to maintain our business records, and to comply with applicable legal and regulatory obligations. Quote request data is typically retained for up to 24 months from the date of submission to allow for follow-up and service delivery. Website analytics data is retained in aggregate or anonymized form for longer periods to assist with site improvement. You may request deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting us at hello@cover4you.co.nz. We will action deletion requests within 30 days, except where we are required to retain data by law.

6. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Our website uses cookies and similar tracking technologies (including web beacons and local storage) to improve your browsing experience, remember your preferences, and analyse how visitors use our site. We use:

  • Essential cookies — required for the website to function correctly
  • Analytics cookies — tools such as Google Analytics that help us understand traffic patterns and usage (data is aggregated and anonymized where possible)
  • Marketing cookies — used to measure the effectiveness of referral sources and advertising campaigns

You can control and manage cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies. Disabling certain cookies may limit the functionality of this website. You can also opt out of Google Analytics tracking via the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

7. Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, accidental loss, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. All data transmitted between your browser and our website is encrypted using SSL/TLS. Access to personal data collected through our forms is restricted to authorized personnel only. However, no method of internet transmission or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you believe your information has been compromised, please contact us immediately.

8. Your Rights — CCPA, GDPR, and Florida Privacy Law

Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal information. Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion, to opt out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell personal information), and to non-discrimination for exercising these rights.

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), if you are located in the European Economic Area, you may have rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing of, or port your personal data, and to object to certain processing activities. We process EEA personal data on the legal basis of legitimate interests and, where required, explicit consent.

Florida residents may also have rights under the Florida Digital Bill of Rights (effective July 2024). To exercise any of these rights, or to make a data access or deletion request, please contact us at hello@cover4you.co.nz. We will respond within 30 days of receiving a verifiable request.

This website is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. When we make significant changes, we will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Your continued use of this website after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
